Title: Chair, Awards and Honors Committee
Vision: To select the most deserving candidates for annual Montana Library Association awards
Job Description:
- Review nominations and letter of support for awards sent in by members.
- Review and forward nominations and letters of support to Awards and Honors Committee
- Select award winners from nominations
- Advise MLA Board of award winners selected and get Board approval
- Work with MLA Conference Planners to plan annual awards ceremony
- Contact award winners and relay information concerning awards ceremony
- Arrange presenters for awards ceremony
- Coordinate purchase and construction of awards
- Plan awards ceremony and present awards
- Revise and restructure applications as needed
- Submit annual report to Board
Timeline:
June: Begin new MLA year
June: Attend Leadership Retreat and Summer Board meeting
July: Renew dues and contact committee members to renew
August: With President’s help fill any committee vacancy positions
September: Write article for October FOCUS announcing awards and honors criteria
October: Contact Executive Director concerning unpaid committee members
October: Attend the Fall Board meeting
November: Announce in December FOCUS Awards and Honors standards
December: Announce on Wired the opportunity to nominate MLA Awards
January: Close Awards period and send all relevant information to committee members
February: Select Award winners and relay information to MLA Executive Board for approval
March: Plan awards ceremony, design awards program, select awards presenters, co-ordinate completion of award plaques
April: MC Awards Ceremony and present awards
May: Write article for FOCUS with award winners, pictures of award ceremony
May: Submit yearly report to MLA Board
