VISION:  

MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the nominating committee is to recommend a quality slate of candidates for MLA offices, and to provide an opportunity for the widest possible involvement in Association affairs for its members.

GOALS: 

  1. Present a slate of candidates to the members in accord with Association by-laws and procedures. 
  2. Fill the slate with qualified candidates, who will bring their skills, energy, and wisdom to the Association's affairs. 
  3. Enlist a mix of experienced and new MLA members to run for office. 
  4. Involve the widest possible cross section of MLA members in the Association's business. 
  5. Balance participation geographically and by library-type.

OBJECTIVES: 

  1. Create a form for nominations and begin soliciting nominations at the beginning of the Association's fiscal year. 
  2. Involve entire committee in the nominating process (note to self). 
  3. By February 1, 2001, complete the slate, including a biographical sketch and statement from each candidate should be included in the conference pre-registration mailing. 
  4. Schedule, coordinate and host a time at one or more annual conference general sessions at which each candidate may be introduced and make a short statement. 
  5. Balance slate of candidates to represent a diverse geographical mix of Montana. 
  6. Balance slate of candidates to include 'old hands' and librarians and trustees with less Association experience.
