Some Suggestions on How to Get Started
With a Pennies for Peace Campaign in Your Library

  1. Choose a prominent location for your Pennies for Peace display.
  2. Find a large collection jar.  Clear is better because that way you can see the progress you're making.
  3. Print out Pennies for Peace label and attach it to the jar.
  4. Create an attractive display area with photos and information.  Use our display sheet with some of our sample photos or better yet, some of your own to show how members of your community are getting involved.
  5. Customize this brochure with your library's information.  Print on colored paper to hand out from circulation/reference desks, give to local businesses, etc.
  6. Modify the sample press release provided to include information about your library and how you're promoting the Pennies campaign.  Send it to local media.  Use the html sample to create your own web page on the campaign for your library's website.
  7. Deposit the money raised in a local account then write a check and send it to:
    Central Asia Institute
    PO Box 7209
    Bozeman, MT 59771

or follow directions on the web site www.ikat.org for online or phone contributions.  Be sure to mention that the funds are from Job #12 (Montana Library Association campaign)
  8. Keep track of funds raised, anecdotes, successful promotional ideas, etc. and share them with Norma Glock and the Central Asia Institute Task Force.  Some of your experiences will no doubt find their way to Wired-MT to inspire others.  And, if you have photos to share, we can post them on the MLA website.
