Beginning Autumn 2002, the Information School of the University of Washington will offer the Distance Master of Library and Information Science (DMLIS) program. The Information School established the DMLIS to meet the high demand for trained librarians and information professionals--particularly in the northwest and west regions of the U.S. For more information and application, see the UW Information School web site.
Any UW alumni currently living in Montana are more than welcome to add their news and/or updates to this site via the MLA webmaster. You might also be interested in signing up for the UW IAlumni Email list. For subscription information, check out the Email lists page.
On Friday, November 17, 2000, the Board of Regents of the University of Washington approved the resolution officially changing the name of our school to The Information School of the University of Washington and establishing us as an independent school beginning July 1, 2001. UW Alums and a few other friends met with Mike Eisenberg at the Montana Brewing Company on Wednesday, April 26, 2000 for brews and chat. Mike commented that Custer's Last Stout was even better than the stout available in Seattle.
Mike was the keynote speaker at the MLA Conference in Billings on April 27, 2000. He delivered the keynote address: "Our Time is Now! The Power of Information and Librarians" as well as a workshop: "Information Literacy in All Settings: The Big6 Skills Approach".
The address and workshop were both big hits. Now all we have to do is figure out how we can make regional cooperation a reality.
